I don't have gas, how do I heat my pool?

No gas?  No problem!

There are a few ways to get around the issue of not having natural gas as a fuel source to heat your pool.  There is the fossil fuel options such as LPG or oil.  There is also a renewable energy source option now in the form of an swimming pool air source heat pump.

Again there are pros and cons for both.  For instance a dedicated swimming pool oil boiler would heat the pool up more quickly than a heat pump but could cost more to run and maintain.  Once a heat pump is installed thats it other than an annual service, where as with oil or LPG you need to organise regular fuel deliveries.

You may have no choice than to go with oil or LPG is you do not have a sufficient electrical supply for a heat pump.  So as you can see again it comes down to careful specification for your individual swimming pool and usage requirements.

Who can install swimming pool boilers?

When it comes to swimming pool boiler installations engineers require specialist qualifications to sign off the installations under building control.  All of which Boilers 4 Essex hold.

The different types of swimming pool boiler requires the following qualifications and accreditations to fit legally:

  • Pool natural gas boilers, gas safe and swimming pool boiler qualification.  It will say “swimming pools” on the back of the gas safe card.  Don’t forget to check!
  • Pool LPG boilers require as above with an additional LPG qualification.  It will say “LPG” on the back of the card as well as the others previously stated.
  • Oil pool boilers require an OFTEC qualified engineer.

If you do not get someone suitable qualified and accredited to install your new swimming pool boiler it could void your manufacturers warranty, as-well as voiding your home insurance in the event of something happening linked to the boiler.  You will also be required to supply the correct certificates if you ever decide to sell your home.

In short it is not worth trying to do it yourself or employing a cash chancer to install it.  It’s too big an investment, you want it done properly and to have peace of mind.
